March 13        Kew Festival - promotion in Alexandra Gardens

March 24        Kew Festival evening talk “Long Lost Musicians in the Boroondara Cemetery”
Hear about the contribution these people made to the musical heritage of Victoria. A special feature will be the playing of a recording by Nellie Stewart.
We will talk about ...
* Nellie Stewart – singer and actress know as "Sweet Nell"
* Alberto Zelman – composer and musician, one of the founders of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
* Alfred Brash – Brash’s Music store
* Albert Fuller – church organ builder, including Kew Congregational Church
* Mona and Samuel McBurney - composers and music teachers
* Thomas Brentnall - musician and Liedertafel singer
  Walter Bonwick - music teacher
  Georgina Lyster - opera singer, "Lysterfield"
   Carl Pinschof - patron of the arts, "Studley Hall"
  Elise Wiedermann, wife of Carl Pinschof, opera singer

April  10 1.30pm  Ellen Quick re-enactment  by the "Woodlands Friends Group"
Come and watch actors depict a re-enactment of the story of the developement of the Boroondara Cemetery - from its first buriel to the building of the Mausoleum. A heart wrenching tale how death is commemorated over 150 years.

May 26th        Meeting & Guest speaker Elizabeth Pane, President of the Brighton Cemetorians
Elizabeth will speak about some of the famous people buried at Brighton Cemetery and their monuments. Brighton is one of Melbourne's oldest cemeteries. She will also explain the work and achievements of the Brighton Cemetorians, the friends group of Brighton Cemetery.

July 28      Members night speaking on relatives buried in Boroondara Cemetery
Do you have an interesting member of your family buried at the Boroondara Cemetery?
Would you be interested in giving a short presentation (5-10 minutes) at this meeting. If so, please contact us at info@fobkc.org

What:
   Many of the architects and owners of well-known buildings in Melbourne and nearby suburbs are buried at the Cemetery. Hear about Joseph Reed (Melbourne Town Hall, Royal Exhibition Building), David Askew (Block Arcade), John Koch (Labassa) and mansions such as Studley Hall, Raheen and Narrapumelap.

What:   Catherine will speak on the Good Shepherd Sisters of Abbotsford, many of whom are buried in the cemetery. How they got there, about their order and how many 'inmates' they helped over the years. If we're lucky, a few anecdotes or personal stories about a couple of the nuns.
Dr Catherine Kovesi - Senior Lecturer in History at the School of Historical Studies, University of Melbourne.
